ST. GEORGE - Medicare recently reported that Red Cliffs Regional, a nursing facility in St. George, was rated four out of five stars according to Medicare's Five Star Quality Rating System.
The score was the highest in the area for facilities who offer short term rehabilitation, long term care and out patient rehabilitation services.
The rating system was not created as a replacement for touring facilities in person but rather to be used as a tool to help consumers make an educated decision when selecting care for themselves or a loved one.
The program allows consumers to compare up to three skilled nursing facilities at a time side by side. The scoring system considers each facilities three most recent state health inspections, staffing data and quality measures of which Red Cliffs rates highest among its peers. The Quality Measures section addresses 19 different categories of care with improvements in Activities of Daily Living and Mobility making approximately 40 percent of the areas score. Red Cliffs consistently meets or surpasses states and national scores in these areas.
