Finding Care FAQ
- Are the skilled nursing facilities Medicare/MediCaid/MediCal certified, and do they accept HMO residents?
Yes, all of the skilled nursing communities (facilities) we contract with are Medicare, MediCaid, or MediCal certified. The communities also accept HMO patients.
- Does the Department of Health review the skilled nursing facilities?
Yes, each community is routinely evaluated by the Department of Health Services. These visits are always unannounced and every aspect of the residents’ care is investigated. Each community maintains standards and expectations for their employees with regard to resident care.
- How many days do residents receive therapy?
All therapy disciplines require an order from the attending physician to provide therapy services. The amount of therapy can vary from resident to resident. The amount of therapy received by the resident is dependent upon two factors; how much the resident can tolerate per therapy session and how much progress is made by the resident. In the case of HMO recipients, there must be an authorization for therapy services from the HMO’s Case Manager. The continued HMO authorization for therapy services will be determined again by how much a resident can tolerate per session and how much progress is made by the resident. For further information please contact any of the individual community's billing office personnel.

Each article of clothing should be labeled with the resident's name in permanent ink. (These are suggestions for Skilled Nursing Residents.)
- What are the visiting hours?
The majority of the contracted communities do not have set visiting hours; you are always welcome in each community. However, many of the communities post suggested visiting hours, and prefer that you notify the community if you prefer early morning or late evening visits. This is a courtesy to the staff members to be on alert to guests entering the community after-hours for safety and well-being of the residents, staff members and visitors.

Please feel free to inquire at a community of choice for a list of languages spoken.
